Overview:
SENP1 (SUMO-specific protease 1) is a protease from the de-SUMOylation protease superfamily and catalyzes the maturation of SUMO protein (small ubiquitin-related modifier). It plays a role in the regulation of androgen receptor-dependent transcription and hypoxia signaling (1). Overexpression of SENP1 was found in precancerous prostate intraepithelial neoplasia lesions and prostate cancer tissue samples, indicating the enzyme may promote prostate cancer metastasis and progression (2).
