Overview:
Tumor necrosis factor receptor-associated factor 1 (TRAF1) is a member of the TNF receptor-associated factor (TRAF) family. Unlike other members of the TRAF family, it lacks the N-terminal RING/zinc-finger domain. As an adapter protein, TRAF1 regulates the activation of NF-kappa-B and JNK and plays a role in the regulation of cell survival and apoptosis. TRAF1 has been shown as a substrate of PKN1 kinase activity (1). TRAF1 inhibits TNFR2-induced proteasomal degradation of TRAF2 and relieves TNFR1-induced activation of NFκB from the inhibitory effect of TNFR2 (2).
