Overview:
BCMA (B cell maturation) is a nonglycosylated integral membrane type I protein that is preferentially expressed in mature B lymphocytes. The N-terminal part of both mouse and human proteins contains a conserved six-cysteine motif. BLyS binds to three receptors of the TNF receptor family (B cell maturation antigen BCMA, TACI, and BAFF-R), all of which are expressed by mature B cells.
Gene Aliases:
Tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily member 17, TNFRSF17, B cell maturation antigen, BCM, BCMA, CD269.
Genbank Number:
Storage, Stability and Shipping:
The lyophilized protein is stable for at least one year from date of receipt at -70oC. Upon reconstitution, this cytokine can be stored in working aliquots at 2o - 8oC for one month, or at -20oC for six months, with a carrier protein without detectable loss of activity. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
Endotoxin Level:
<1.0 EU/μg of recombinant protein as determined by the LAL method.
Molecular Weight:
6.0 kDa
Reconstitution Protocol:
A quick spin of the vial followed by reconstitution in distilled water to a concentration not less than 0.1 mg/mL. This solution can then be diluted into other buffers.
Purity:
Recombinant Human B-cell Maturation Protein (TNFRSF17) resolved on a 17% SDS-PAGE gel under reducing conditions and stained with Coomassie Brilliant Blue G-250.
