Overview:

UBA2 (SAE2) or ubiquitin-like modifier activating enzyme 2 forms a heterodimer that functions as a SUMO-activating enzyme for the sumoylation of proteins. The posttranslational modification of proteins by the addition of the small protein SUMO or sumoylation, regulates protein structure and intracellular localization (1). UBA2 functions in SUMO1 activation in a manner analogous to the single E1 ubiquitin-activating enzymes (2). The inactivation of UBA2 may be a therapeutic strategy in MYC-driven cancers.

Specificity:

Recognizes the UBA2 (SAE2) protein

Cross Reactivity:

Human

Host / Isotype / Clone#:

Rabbit, IgG

Immunogen:

UBA2 antibody was raised against an 18 amino acid synthetic peptide near the carboxy terminus of human UBA2

Purification:

Affinity chromatography

Stability:

Store at 4oC (add 0.1% NaN3) for several months, and at -20oC for longer periods. For optimal storage, aliquot target into smaller quantities after centrifugation and store at recommended temperature. For most favorable performance, avoid repeated handling and multiple freeze/thaw cycles.

Sample Data:

Western blot analysis of UBA2 in 293 cell lysate with UBA2 antibody at 0.25 ug/ml in (A) the absence and (B) the presence of blocking peptide.

Sample Data:

Immunocytochemistry of UBA2 in 293 cells with UBA2 antibody at 4 ug/ml.
