Overview:

PIP4K2B (phosphatidylinositol-5-phosphate 4-kinase, type II, beta) catalyzes the phosphorylation of phospha-tidylinositol-5-phosphate on the fourth hydroxyl of the myo-inositol ring to form phosphatidylinositol-5,4-bisphosphate. PIP4K2B is a member of the phosphatidylinositol-5-phosphate 4-kinase family. PIP5K2B interacts specifically with the juxtamembrane region of the p55 TNF receptor and that PIP5K2B activity is increased in mammalian cells by treatment with TNF-alpha (1). PIP5P4KB plays a role in determining insulin sensitivity and adiposity (2).
