Overview:
Cyclin M, the only conventional cyclin partner of CDK10, protects CDK10 from ubiquitin-mediated degradation (1). Cyclin M exhibits strong sequence homology to transcriptional cyclins, especially the L-type cyclins that are associated with CDK11, 12 and 13 to regulate transcription and splicing (2). CDK10 is required to form a complex with Cyclin M in order to phosphorylate Histone H1, the canonical CDK substrate, and ETS2, a transcription factor that plays key roles in cancer and development (2).
