Overview:

Nodal, also known as Nodal homolog, is a secreted protein member of the Transforming Growth Factor-beta (TGF-beta) superfamily. It is essential for the formation of mesoderm and axial patterning during early vertebrate embryonic development.

Gene Aliases:

Nodal homolog

Genbank Number:

Storage, Stability and Shipping:

The lyophilized protein is stable for at least one year from date of receipt at -70oC. Upon reconstitution, this cytokine can be stored in working aliquots at 2o - 8oC for one month, or at -20oC for six months, with a carrier protein without detectable loss of activity. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.

Endotoxin Level:

<1.0 EU/mu;g of recombinant protein as determined by the LAL method

Molecular Weight:

13.1 kDa

Reconstitution Protocol:

Reconstitute in sterile 4mM HCl at 100μg/mL (containing at least 0.1% human or bovine serum albumin)

Sample Cell Assay Data:

100 ng/mL phosphorylation activity as determined by its ability to induce Smad2 phosphorylation in P19 mouse embryonal carcinoma cells.

Purity:

Recombinant Human Nodal resolved on a 15% SDS-PAGE gel under reducing conditions and stained with Coomassie Brilliant Blue G-250
