Overview:
Usp12 belongs to the ubiquitin-specific protease family of deubiquitinases that contains the conserved catalytic cysteine/histidine domain present in other USPs. USP12 has been identified as a deubiquitinase for histones H2A/H2B, Notch, PH domain leucine-rich repeat protein phosphatase 1, and androgen receptor (1). A complex of USP12 with WDR48 negatively regulates Akt activation, thus promoting cellular apoptosis. This complex has also been shown to suppress proliferation of tumor cell (2).
