Storage, Stability and Shipping : The lyophilized protein is stable for at least one year from date of receipt at -70oC. Upon reconstitution, this cytokine can be stored in working aliquots at 2o - 8oC for one month, or at -20oC for six months, with a carrier protein without detectable loss of activity. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
Applications : Cell Assay
Endotoxin Level : <1.0 EU/μg of recombinant protein as determined by the LAL method.
Molecular Weight : 8.9 kDa
Gene Aliases : C-X3-C motif chemokine 1, CX3C membrane-anchored chemokine, Neurotactin, Small-inducible cytokine D1.
Reconstitution Protocol : Reconstitute at 25 μg/mL in sterile PBS containing at least 0.1% human or bovine serum albumin.
Scientific Background : Fractalkine is a type I membrane protein that signals through the CX3CR1 receptor. The extracellular domain of Fractalkine is released by protease cleavage – producing soluble Fractalkine. Fractalkine has been found in many tissues and shown to be up-regulated in endothelial cells and microglia in response to inflammatory signals. Fractalkine is also involved in leukocyte adhesion as well as attracting monocytes, microglia cells and NK cells.
Sample Cell Assay Data : Measured by its ability to chemoattract BaF3 mouse pro-B cells transfected with mouse CX3CR1. The ED(50) for this effect is typically 20100 ng/mL
Purity : Recombinant Human Fractalkine(CX3CL1) resolved on a 17% SDS_PAGE gel under reducing conditions and stained with Coomassie Brilliant Blue G-250.
